563 books I have read

This is, just for fun, a list of 563 books that I've read. It's not a complete list (because I don't remember them all), but as complete as possible (and should be complete from the end of 2006, when I started this little project). On top of that, it's a list of books I have read in their entirety, so there are a great many books from which I have read a significant part, maybe even the most part, but which I will nevertheless not list. This describes most of the textbooks I've ever had, for example.

I am trying to make it as complete as I can, though—a list of all the books I can recall reading cover to cover (though I err on the side of caution: I've omitted some books I'm pretty sure I read a long, long time ago). This could potentially include textbooks; it certainly includes everything from the Canterbury Tales by way of “classics”, fantasy, science fiction, mystery novels, horror, and whatever else I may have devoured at some point, all the way to children's books that I haven't touched since I was a child. Some are silly; some are serious. Some are short; some run over a thousand pages. On that note, just because I list it here, that doesn't mean that I liked it, but only that I remember reading it. Some books are memorably bad.

Some of the titles are probably wrong. I've done my best, but there are plenty of books I have read in Swedish that to my knowledge were never translated into English, so that I had to provide some more-or-less reasonable approximation; there are even a couple of books for which I was unable to find the original title (Swedish translations of foreign language books printed in the fifties and earlier did not necessarily even cite the original title, it seems).

Nitpicky footnotes

In the course of making this list, I had to make some arbitrary decisions. Generally, these decisions were made to preserve some reasonable measure of how many books I've read, or just for the sake of simplicity.
